All the seniors lined up on the field, ready for a special moment in their lives as they play in their last first High School football game. Surrounded by the people that love and respect them, the 31 players get ready for a celebratory night. Kicking off the season in a positive way, the team, the fans, and the student section all felt the spirit of the game. Rowan Graham is one of the seniors who is a part of the atmosphere and has been for all 3 years here.
“As a senior, you know, I believe that it was really sentimental. I was really excited, and I was a little sad, because this is my last first home game ever of football,” Graham said. “so I felt that I really needed to leave it all out there.”
He speaks for much if not all of the team, proving they left it all out there with a tremendous 65-50 win over Farmington. Seniors are leaders on the team setting the tone and raising the bar. Junior Titus Cramer is impacted by the seniors he looks up to.
“Ben Quinlan and Tate Beam, I think they’re really big leaders on the defense and even like on and off the field,” Cramer said. “On the field, they make a lot of big plays, and it’s really influential.”
Each and every senior has earned respect from the team for their hard work. According to the underclassmen, they also are respected by other people such as their teachers, parents, and friends. Coach Russel Wilson has big respect for the seniors.
“I thought the seniors have done a really good job of setting a great example of not being result driven, but being process oriented, being consistent, day in and day out, of getting better and working hard,” Wilson said. “I also thought they have done a really good job of answering that bell every day when it’s time.”
Football is not just a sport for most of the players, according to them it’s a lifestyle, to some degree. They work their body to its limits everyday, study film, and play hard football for us. Rowan Graham mentioned this love for football.
“It’s been something that my family’s always been into, and something that I’ve always found interesting and found a lot of passion in. And I always wanted to continue to play,” Graham said.
