My first story was published in 1990 in my high school newspaper. I wrote a feature story about my best friend who was suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and won an award for feature writing. I was hooked. Since then I’ve covered school board meetings, Greek life, the police beat and high school sports. Teaching others how to write stories, however, is one of my greatest passions, and so I’ve been in the classroom doing just that for the past 20 years.
