The Wildcats will open up their basketball season on November 17th at Maumelle high school, and will play their first home game of the season in Wildcat Arena, on November 21st against Van Buren. The Wildcats are coming off a 16-7 overall record last year, finishing second in the 6A west going 12-4 in conference.
The Wildcats got a new addition this year, Courtland Muldrew. Muldrew was a 4 star point guard on our conference rival, the Springdale Bulldogs. Muldrew decided to come over to Har-ber because of the opportunity that was provided here. According to Muldrew, Har-ber has been a huge upgrade.
“It’s a lot nicer here, and the people are very nice and welcoming.” Junior Courtland Muldrew said.
The team is expecting to have a great season this year. According to men’s basketball head coach,Coach Deffebaugh the team is very young but they have taken a few trips over the summer to help grow together as a team.
“We’ve grown a lot but still have a ways to go. We went to two summer team camps during the month of June, and played 10 games and finished 8-2. Not bad, and we didn’t have two of the four transfers with us yet.” Head Coach Tommy Deffebaugh said, “We stayed overnight in KC and that definitely helped with team bonding, and getting to know each other better.”
The team has many new sophomores that will be playing with the team this year, as well as four new transfers. Despite having all the new faces, the Wildcats are bringing back their two lead guards, Hayden Wood and Jaxon Conley, with the addition of Courtland in the mix coach has hopes of winning a conference title with a state championship to hang in the rafters as well.
“ When we bring back the two best guards, then we’ll just have to find some other guys to step up.” Coach Deffebaugh said, “We have a really good sophomore class coming in from our junior high teams, and four really good transfers. Courtland Muldrew is probably the best player if not the second best player in the league. Now he’s on our team!”
