The roar of the crowd, the steady chanting from the student section. These are some things you might expect from a basketball or football game but not a volleyball game. Until now.
Senior Payton Squires is starting a group that will go to volleyball games to provide moral support as a sort of student section.
“We’ll go to some away games, but pretty much every home game,” said Squires.
The first game against Alma went very well for the volleyball team. Hopefully this will be a foreshadowing of what the season has to come.
“We spanked ‘em. So from watching them, I think we’ll do good,” said Squires.
A change in the conference means they will be facing off against new teams like Van Beuren and Siloam Springs. The crowd helps to intimidate he opponents and can improve the performance of the team.
“The energy they give out, the girls feed off of it,” said volleyball coach Mrs. Sandy Jones.
The volleyball team needs the support of the student body this season. To help support the volleyball teams, come to home games and cheer with the student section.
