When most students think about their senior year, they think about taking it easy. But four seniors had different plans for their sacred senior year. They decided to endure the 7 a.m. summer practices and join the football team.
“I’m pretty pumped about playing under the Friday Night Lights,” said Lucian Ek.
The new senior additions also include Zach Thompson and Mack Cate.
All of them played football in junior high. But many of the other players wonder why wait until senior year to try and pick back up the game.
“I hope my past experiences (with football) will carry over and help me this season,” said Thompson.
Thompson and Cate hope to contribute to the already explosive Wildcat offense. Cate plans to play as a back-up quarterback and Thompson was named as a starting wide receiver.
On the other side of the game, Ek will add to the strength of the defensive squad and play at the free safety position.
The Wildcat football team received a pre-season ranking of 6th place in the state. They play their home-opener Sept. 14 against Fort Smith Southside.
