The Wildcats’ (9-17, 2-10) style of gameplay for the last five conference games can best be described as hot-n-cold. They went from playing superior against two solid opponents, Springdale High and Bentonville High, to looking offensively lost against Rogers High and Fort Smith Northside.
Har-Ber went down to Fort Smith to face former Har-Ber coach, Coach Burnett and the Northside Grizzlies (12-14,6-6).
At the end of the first quarter the Wildcats only trailed by five points (14-19), it was all down hill for the Wildcats from there. The Grizzlies simply ran away with the game.
Northside went into halftime with a comfortable 20 point lead.
The Grizzlies finally called off the dogs in the beginning of the fourth quarter when they had a 33 point advantage over Har-Ber.
“The defense just wasn’t there,” said junior forward Alex Rice, “The games that we’ve played good, we’ve communicated and played good help side defense.”
Rice scored 8 points for the Wildcats.
Senior forward Jon Vaughn lead the Wildcats again offensively with 18 solid points.
Har-Ber hopes to continue their hot-n-cold play style as they return home to face the dominate Fayetteville Bulldogs (18-6,8-4) for Senior Night (Feb. 17).
“Same thing happened with Rogers and we bounced back against Bentonville at home,” said senior guard Jacob Berry. “We are looking to do the same thing against the best team in the state at home for our seniors.”
Berry added 10 points to the Wildcats’ effort.
