Through three quarters, Har-Ber (19-9, 6-6) led by three, but that was before Northside started shooting, and not missing.
Northside (25-1, 12-0), who hasn’t lost in the 7A-West, made nine three pointers in a row to end the game. And ended up winning 66-60 on Tuesday night (Feb. 14) in Fort Smith.
Har-Ber, who lost to Bentonville (18-8, 6-6) last Friday night (Feb. 10), “played struggling defense,” according to senior point guard Jessica Olson, turned it around for the first three quarters Tuesday.
Northside only scored nine in the first, and a 28 combined in the second and third quarters. But in the fourth, Har-Ber’s defense broke down and allowed a season high 29 points.
“Once we got down, we just had to keep fouling to get the ball back,” said senior post Caroline Eubanks. “But they just kept making free throws.”
The Lady Wildcats play Fayetteville (11-13, 4-8) at home this Friday (Feb. 17) on Senior Night. In the previous meeting, at Fayetteville High School, Har-Ber won by 15, behind a 14 point thrashing in the fourth.
“It seems like every team has their best shooting night against us, so we have to limit the threes and need to stop sending people to the free throw line for unnecessary fouls,” said Olson.
This will be the last time the senior Lady Wildcats will step out on the court at Lady Wildcat Arena.
