Last time the Har-Ber Wildcats faced the Rogers Mounties on Jan. 13, the Mounties barely pulled off the 3-point victory. This time around was a different story for the Wildcats (8-16, 1-9).
The Mounties ran a zone defense that shut down the Wildcats’ offensive power. This lead to the Wildcats being held to only 4 points and shooting 11 percent in the first half while the Mounties placed 22 on the board.
“Rogers had a solid matchup zone that contained our inside game, and we just couldn’t get any shots to fall,” said junior forward Alex Rice.
The Wildcats knew they had to make some major changes coming out of the break. They started to make shots in the third quarter and finally put up double digits. Unfortunately the spurt didn’t last for Har-Ber.
The Mounties came out on top, 49-21.
“We got that bad game out of our system. Now it’s time to get ready for Bentonville,” said senior gaurd Jacob Berry.
It seemed as if the Wildcats had literally “gave it all” on their previous game at Springdale High. The Wildcats went from playing an extraordinary game against the Bulldogs, to being shut down offensively against the Mounties.
Har-Ber lacked much of their offensive firepower. Their two leading scorers, Berry and Jon Vaughn, were held to five points. Rice led the Wildcats with seven points and seven blocks.
