Down by six points with less than 10 seconds to go, senior guard Jessica Olson stepped up and knocked down a clutch three pointer to cut the Lady Mountie lead to three.
“I was just glad it went in, because it gave us a chance,” said Olson.
To keep the Har-Ber momentum rolling, they stole the inbounds pass and kicked it to sophomore guard Sam Weber for a 3-point attempt that fell short of sending the Lady Wildcats to overtime.
Leading Har-Ber (19-7, 6-4) most of the night was senior post Caroline Eubanks, who scored 23, and the game’s leading scorer. She shot 67 percent from the field.
“We didn’t rebound well last time versus them, and our defense was really bad,” said Eubanks. “But this time we were way more prepared and were ready.”
Rogers (19-4, 8-2) junior guard Taylor Stickland was 100 percent from the free-throw line and had very clutch free-throws late, following a Summer Morgan offensive foul.
Morgan finished with 14 points and was followed by Olson with 10. Har-Ber falls in their first road game of the year, 57-54.
“We just have to continue to work hard, and maybe we’ll get another shot at them at state, so we can kick their tails,” said Eubanks.
