Despite losing their fifth straight conference game, the Wildcats (7-12, 0-5) also lost their starting forward C.J. Tyson to injury for the second half. Tyson played six minutes into the second half and then rolled his ankle, which forced him to sit out the remainder of the game.
“I felt like I let my team down because I couldn’t help contribute to the game anymore,” said Tyson.
Tyson is expected to be fully recovered and ready to play in time for the Wildcats’ next game.
The Wildcats hosted former Har-Ber coach, Eric Burnett, and the Fort Smith Northside Grizzlies (8-3, 2-3) Friday night ( Jan. 20).
The Wildcats were hoping to acquire their first conference victory of the season. But instead, they received a very tough loss from the Grizzlies (Score: 61-85).
The key to the Grizzlies victory was definitely their ability to shoot the three ball. They ended the game with a total of 11 three-pointers.
“We had trouble containing the shooters,” said junior forward Alex Rice.
Rice and senior forward Jon Vaughn led the Wildcats in points, as they both scored 13.
The Wildcats next game, Tuesday (Jan. 24), will be a very tough one. They will go on the road to face the Fayetteville Bulldogs (11-6, 1-4). The Bulldogs were previously 15-2, 5-0 but they were forced to forfeit four of their 7A West conference victories for playing an ineligible athlete.
