Nearly 11 months ago, Har-Ber last played Springdale in Wildcat Arena, and shocked one of the top teams in the conference, 42-39. To say the least, this year was a different story with a different ending.
Springdale (10-4, 2-0) brought a new wave of talent with them this year to Wildcat Arena.
Two sophomores: Jordan Dennis and D.J. Evans.
They scored a combined 18 points, and the difference in the game was 16.
“Their offense is all guards, so they ran a 5-in, 5 out offense,” said Har-Ber senior forward C.J. Tyson. “And we haven’t played a team like that, so it was difficult.”
Tyson finished 11 points.
Har-Ber (7-9, 0-2) started slow offensively in the first, only scoring eight.
Senior Jon Vaughn sparked the Wildcats scoring column throughout the game, scoring 16.
Despite Vaughn’s efforts, UA Fort Smith commit Myteah Crawford kept the Bulldogs ahead for nearly the whole game. He opened the game with a 3-pointer and never looked back.
Har-Ber made a minor surge in the fourth, outscoring Springdale 16-14 behind Tyson’s nine points in the quarter.
“I had the hot hand, so Coach trusted me and put the ball in my hand,” said Tyson. “And if I didn’t have the shot, he told me to give it to the big men inside.”
Despite Tyson and the Wildcat’s efforts, the Bulldogs made sure to rewrite the script on this chapter of conference play, beating Har-Ber 67-51.
