After barely missing the NFL playoffs for the second season in a row, many NFL fans question if the Dallas Cowboys are still worthy of being called “America’s Team”. The Cowboys dominated the NFC in the 70’s and 90’s, now the Cowboys have been on a 17-year Super Bowl drought.
Despite having Tony Romo, who finished fourth in Passer Rating for the 2011 regular season, the Cowboys had a disappointing season (finishing 8-8). This has many Dallas fans wondering what went wrong for the Cowboys.
Acquiring talent definitely shouldn’t be an issue for Dallas, they receive nearly $120 million a year. The Cowboys usually produce multiple offensive and defensive Pro-Bowlers. This season they only had two defensive players, Jay Ratliff and DeMarcus Ware, elected to the Pro Bowl.
Dallas had a hard time finishing games this season. Five of their eight losses this year were by 6 or less points. It was definitely a disappointing season for the Cowboys who were predicted to end up in the Wild Card.
The Dallas Cowboys have yet to fill the huge expectations of the new “Cowboys Stadium”.
