Opening their new Panther Activity Center for their very first varsity basketball game, Siloam Springs (0-1) took a shot to the heart from visiting Har-Ber (1-0).
Senior Jessica Olson made sure her last season in a Har-Ber uniform got off on the right foot.
Olson exploded for 23 points, with 15 of them coming off of three-pointers.
“The zone [that Siloam played in most of the night] allowed some outside shots, and they just went in,” said Olson.
After leading by nine at the half, 24-15, Siloam battled back and tied the game to begin the fourth quarter.
“The whole night, the guards stpped up and hit shots,” said Olson. “And the posts did a tremendous job with getting offensive rebounds.”
After two clutch buckets late in the fourth quarter by Olson and senior Caroline Eubanks, the game was all but over. Har-Ber 49, Siloam Springs 47.
Eubanks finished with six points. Senior Krista Murr added nine of her own.
“We worked very hard and the results proved our efforts,” said junior Ashley Gray. “And most importantly we played as a team.”
Gray had a first half lay up and a second half three pointer for five points.
