Har-Ber girls soccer had never made it past the first round in the state tournament, until now, and in fashion.
A win is a win, whether it is by one goal or three goals, but as the 2011 7A State Soccer Tournament began, the Har-Ber Lady Wildcats wanted to make sure Central Little Rock was not coming back.
They unleashed goals from everywhere on the field, totaling five in all.
Sam Webber and Lupe Lopez alone scored four goals, and Rachel Lovell added another.
The Har-Ber defense also held strong, as Central Little Rock couldn’t buy a goal (not to mention, they’d have to buy five), and was shutout 5-0.
“We did really good and definitely came out to win and gave it our all. I’m really proud of how we played. I couldn’t be prouder of our team,” said junior defender Emily Reynebeau.
Falling to Bentonville in the second round 0-2 was heartbreaking following a 5-0 victory, but the end of the world did not come, as these Lady Wildcats did something no other team in their history had. Eclipse the first round.
“We played really hard and we really shocked Bentonville with how hard we fought,” said Reynebeau.
