The wrestling team traveled Jan. 15-16 to Bentonville for the Tiger Classic, where mixed emotions were “weighed”. Two wrestlers for Har-Ber both didn’t make weight for the 152 and 103 pound weight classes.
“We would have easily been top three, but two guys didn’t make weight and another guy got hurt but still have come a long way from last year. The difference is like night and day,” said junior wrestler Dylan Collins.
The team finished fourth out of 11 teams even though they lost three wrestlers to such causes.
Collins placed third in the 112 pound weight class to give the Wildcats their second best performance of the tournament despite wrestling up a weight class.
“It was a huge rush and was so sweet because it’s only the first and third place matches going on, and everyone in the stands is cheering for you,” said Collins
Junior Ubaldo Marquez, junior Ty Kirkland, sophomore Ty Harrison, and junior Ryan Harrison all placed fourth as well.
Along with these wrestlers placing, junior Luke Hanson won the 160 pound weight class in a “real physical battle” to an opponent that had previously beat him.
“We just keep getting better every match. We’re starting to wrestle smarter,” said Hanson.
