Organization show inspires student
I got on Netflix when The Home Edit suggestion popped up. I saw a picture of Khloe Kardashian on the show’s promotion picture and I knew that it had to be about organization since she is known for her neat pantry and perfectly stacked cookie jars. So I knew it was something I had to watch.
The stars of the show are Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, who started their organization business in 2015, The Home Edit. They go to their client’s house and organize a room or area. Their process starts by editing items their client does not want or need anymore. Their next step is to divide the remaining items into categories. The last step is contentment of the items in binders or nearly folders and hung clothes into the area being organized. I know it seems simple and easy, but the end result is satisfying to look at.
Although it sounds it easy, it’s not. It can be difficult for many people who don’t understand or know where to start. They remove almost if not everything from the space while editing. They do this to start with a clear space. Their goal is to make that space fit the client’s needs and wants while making it function.
Another major technique used is rainbow. This is how to tend to organize closets and playrooms. The rainbow makes it nice and easy to look at. It is also one of their main techniques they are known for. It was my favorite and the most satisfying to look at.
Shearer and Teplin are funny, smart and driven women who took something simple and made a business that even celebrities use. Not only did Khloe Kardashian use them but so did country singer Kane Brown and Legal-Blonde star Reese Witherspoon. There were also everyday people featured on their show. Each episode featured an everyday person or family and a celebrity. I really enjoyed being able to watch both because it seemed more realized.
Although I was a really organized person before, after watching The Home Edit I really wanted to organize my closet, drawers, and anything in between using their techniques.
