As senioritis continues to infect the school population’s of seniors, (and sadly even some juniors), senior skip days are soon to become more prevalent. I’m all for senior skip days, if they are done right. Unfortunately, who ever is planning these skip days is doing it all wrong.
Our most recent skip day was successful in the event that people failed to show up to school, but it was pointless because of the weather outside and other factors. Seniors were gone and with them the productivity level of the rest of the school. I was forced to go to school thanks to my wonderful parents, and school was the most pointless it has ever been. Even if my parents had let me stay home, it would have been boring and uneventful at home.
So I went to school, avoiding an unexcused absence. We only have eight unexcused absences and that senior skip day was not worth burning one.
If we’re going to have a senior skip day, I suggest that the weather outside be beautiful. That way, we can have fun outside and not just sit at home all day with nothing to do while avoiding the frigid temperatures lurking outside.
Having a senior skip day is pointless if the weather outside is freezing cold. Unlike some teenagers, I don’t want to just sleep all day because that is a day wasted. I love sleeping in but not past 11:00.
The next senior skip day should be saved for a day filled with sunny rays and warm temperatures. That way us seniors can go out and fill our day with fun activities whether it’s at a park or at the lake.
