Once upon a time, two beautiful people with fabulously charmed lives fell in love. After a fantastic wedding worthy of a fairy godmother that was viewed by millions, the happy couple is to live happily ever after.
The Royal Wedding of United Kingdom’s Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton was a complete fairytale that most people can only dream up. The happy couple was married at Westminister Abbey, the church in the heart of London that was established in 960 A.D.
The April 29 ceremony was lovely, starting with a nearly four minute walk down the isle for Kate. Her train was carried by her sister Philippa Middleton, and she was accompanied by four other bridesmaids, two page boys, and her father, Michael Middleton.
Prince William’s best man was his brother, Prince Henry of Wales.
The only television network with permission to stream live coverage within the Abbey during the ceremony was Britain’s BBC news network. The ceremony was conducted by the Dean of Westminister, Dr. John Hall, and the marriage was made official by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowland Williams.
After the ceremony within the Abbey and the private ceremony for family members only, 600 of the 1,900 attendees were invited to Buckingham Palace for a celebration in honor of the couple, which British pop sensation Ellie Goulding performed live at.
After a dreamlike ride through historical London in antiquated carriages, the Royal newlyweds and the remainder of the wedding party arrived at Buckingham Palace. On the balcony, Prince William and Princess Catherine finally had their first kiss as a married couple, followed by their second, which makes them the first Royal couple in history to have two public kisses on the balcony after their wedding.
A wedding like this is a complete dream for many girls, due to the Disney-style fairytale wedding. An ornate church, an elaborate dress, and the promise of a Prince plus the title of Princess is the ultimate wedding for any girl stuck in fantasy land.
