Everybody has seen a women’s beauty pageant whether it is the Ms. Universe pageant or Ms. HBHS pageant. These contests tend to be on the more serious side where contestants compete in a series of events such as the talent competition or answering a question about global affairs.
But on April 11, men from the school competed in more of a humorous pageant that left the audience gasping for air and roaring with laughter. Junior Jacob Lee took first place representing “Mr. Art,” in the pageant with senior Preston Cash, “Mr. Baseball,” placing second.
Along with a bedazzled crown and flowers, Lee was also awarded a foot-long sandwich from Subway.
The pageant started out with a chuckle as the contestants performed a dance number to “It’s Raining Men,” including choreography, umbrellas, and some pretty sweet dance moves.
“My favorite part was the dance,” said senior Preston Cash, “It was fun to learn and mess around with the guys.”
Then it was on to the talent competition. Winner Jacob Lee decided to perform a live, up-side-down painting of Jesus.
“I think I had the most prepared talent,” said Lee, “I got a big reaction from the audience.”
The next competition was the question part of the event. Contestants drew a slip of paper with a question on it from a bowl and were expected to answer it aloud. The contestants answered questions like, “Why do you love your mom?” and “If you could marry a Disney princess, which one would it be?”
The participants took a less serious take at the questions and turned it into who could be the funniest.
With model walks, pole dancing, and much more, the Mr. HBHS pageant was definitely one to remember.
“I normally don’t do these kind of things,” said Cash, “It was a really fun experience.”
