Student Council is currently working on a feeder project to connect with younger students who will be attending Har-Ber in the future. The goal is to introduce these students to the school’s values and expectations before they officially start High School, making their transition smoother into the Wildcat community.
“The goal for the feeder project is to unite the middle school and junior high students that are coming into Har-Ber with their values and uniting those values with ours,” sophomore Ben Little said.
By reaching out to younger students early on, the student council hopes to make them feel welcomed and prepared for the transition. Rather than focusing solely on upcoming student council members, the project is designed to involve multiple schools and all their students.
“We want to connect with all the other leadership sponsors,” Kami Carpenter, the student council teacher, said. “It’s not just student council focused, it’s more about the students in that area.”
The hope is that by introducing the High School activities early on, students will be more likely to be engaged in school events and leadership opportunities. Many students entering High School feel overwhelmed by the big change, and this is meant to ease that anxiety by making sure they feel comfortable before their first day.
“I think this will have a great impact on the incoming students,” Little said. “Going over there and showing them what it really means is gonna have the biggest impact.”
As the feeder project continues to develop, student council members look forward to welcoming future Wildcats and making their journey as smooth as possible. By building these connections now, they hope to create a strong, more united student body for years to come.
“We hope to push them in a better direction than where they might be now,” Carpenter said.
