There are many young artists pursuing work in the music industry, one in particular is junior Eli Harriman. Harriman develops and performs music for audiences, setting up gigs at establishments all around Northwest Arkansas. He specializes in guitar and mostly performs country songs written by his favorite artists for his audiences.
“It’s always been the most fun to me, making and performing music has always been what’s come naturally to me,” Harriman said. “Not a lot really does, but it’s really been the thing that appeals to the way my brain works.”
Music is accepted by many to be the universal language. Harriman seems to use it as a sort of stress reliever. He has stumbled upon this ambition and is now chasing his dream in the music world.
“It’s more casual, but I do plan on hopefully releasing some sort of music on some sort of streaming service before I graduate. Hopefully, it turns into a career kind of thing,” Harriman said.
To achieve his goals for his music career, he needs to work hard according to his sister who he often will sing a song at his gigs. Reese Hariman believes that he needs to practice often and continue to love what he does. As long as music is one of his priorities he has a good chance to make himself a name in the music world. It all starts with hard work though.
“I love that he didn’t give up what I did because I had a guitar too, and I gave up on it quickly because it’s hard, and he just kept trying,” Reese Harriman said. “And even when he sucked, he kept practicing. And now he’s really good, so I’m proud of him for not giving up on that.”
Continually working hard and endurance are the qualities and consistencies that are necessary to become a successful musician. Eli Harriman has worked up to the level that he is at due to his mindset. His choir director, Michael Baker Brown, vouched for him and his work ethic throughout the years.
“He definitely has the talent and the drive to be able to do something with this. He has stepped out, and he’s done wonderful in All-State and All-Region. But not only that, he’s taken an extra step further, and he’s actually gigging on his own,” Brown said. “It’s pretty cool.”
With all the right components and having a working mindset, Harriman is set to achieve his goals. There is a good chance that with all of Harriman’s efforts, he will become a renowned country musician in the future.
“I try to practice, continue to write, continue to do gigs, just to keep myself sharp,” Harriman said. “It’s something I plan to do for a while.”
