Stock marketing club took their third field trip to Little Rock Nov. 28 and visited the Federal Reserve Bank, Arkansas Treasury Department, and the Clinton Presidential Library. The library was senior Abby Daraphone’s favorite part of the trip.
“The Lego exhibit at the Clinton Library was in my opinion the best part of the trip,” said Daraphone.
While the trip was meant to be fun for the 23 students who attended, the trip was also educational.
“My goal as stock market club advisor was to create a fun learning event. Students attended presentations by bankers, economist, and government leaders, but they also rode the trolley car and visited a Lego exhibit at the museum. We ate launch at a favorite restaurant in downtown Little Rock called Iriana’s Pizza,” said stock market club sponsor Dorothy Hill.
Students learned many valuable tools on this trip such as ways to pay for college, the function of the Federal Reserve Bank, and how to increase their human capital.
“The best part for me was seeing the students engaged in learning. Before we ever left Little Rock to come home, a student commented to me ‘Wow! This is awesome! Can we come back next year?’,” Mrs. Hill said.
In order to go on this field trip students had to fundraise. They held a pancake breakfast and are still selling beef jerky.
“I participated in two fundraisers to attend this field trip,” said junior Chase Rains. “Stock marketing is a really interesting field. This field trip helped get kids excited about investing and helped teach them how.”
