Birds are usually the only ones with feathers, but apparently, in these changing times, humans have grown a liking to them. In the past few weeks, teenagers and adults have been rushing to salons to have feathers clamped into their hair. English teacher Elizabeth Wheeler purchased a few feathers because her daughters had them.
“I think they are really cute and fun looking,” said Wheeler, “My daughters have them so I got some too.”
The cost of feathers are usually around $25 for three or $10 for one. A person searching for a place to acquire feathers can easily find them at most salons.
“I saw other people wearing them,” said junior Megan Riggins, “and I thought they were pretty cool.”
Of course, feathers are not hair so do NOT brush them. They will definitely come out if brushed but other than that, the maintenance is simple. Feathers can still be styled like regular hair. They can be washed, curled, crimped, and straightened.
Feathers are placed in hair by either glue or a special tool that clamps down a metal piece to secure it to the hair.
“They have a large variety of different kinds and colors of feathers,” said Riggins. “That’s another reason why I decided to get some.”
Feathers stay in as long as the wearer wants them too unless they fall out.
“I plan on leaving mine in until they fall out,” said Mrs. Wheeler.
