Junior Grant Gershner stands up shocked to receive the honors of being named 13th chair at the All-State choir competition.
“I was excited! I thought I did pretty bad,” said Gershner.
“At competition, we had to practice and perform three songs as a section with 20 people in each section. I put in quite a bit of effort, but I had expected a lot lower than 13th chair,” said Gershner after competition was over. “I wasn’t nervous until I walked into the room. I pretty much panicked.”
Gershner has been in Men’s Choir since his sophomore year, along with football.
“I joined choir because I like to sing, I like the teachers and everyone in the class, and it’s just a nice class,” he said.
Next year, Gershner plans to stay in choir as a senior because it doesn’t affect his football career and he just likes singing in choir.
“I don’t think my voice is that great, but other people do,” he said.
