What I am planning to do for Spring break is a retreat. Every year, Camp War Eagle hosts a retreat for high school students. Last time we had one, we went to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and it was so much fun. One of the things we did was the Tulsa Zoo. We split up into our small groups after eating lunch. Me and my small group went to see the gorillas. There was this one gorilla that looked isolated from the others. We joked about what might have happened and that is when me and my small group leader broke out into song. This song is called “Little Gorilla,” and we just sang it out of nowhere, thinking of lyrics on the fly. The song goes like this;
Little gorilla (don’t you cry)
Little gorilla (it’s alright)
Little gorilla (i’ll hug you tight)
Little gorilla (you’ll be fine)
It was such a funny and wholesome moment and we haven’t forgotten that since. We also picked up trash around an area with grabber tools. There were motorcyclists riding around the hills and a nearby skate park. It wasn’t what I expected to do after a long drive to Tulsa, but I still had a good time with good people around me. We also got to stay overnight in this little church, sleeping on the floor. I was too exhausted to even feel uncomfortable on the floor. The next retreat starts in a few weeks and I am pretty sure we will be going to Tulsa again. I just love all of the things they plan and can’t wait to be at Camp War Eagle for a week. At the end of each spring break, we all leave with a booklet that has all of the bible lessons we went over each day we spent there. I love going back to my previous booklets and seeing what I wrote down that time.
