Rae’s new movie falls short
Of the 68 students who responded to a survey, 40 concluded that Addison Rae’s new movie “He’s All That” is really not all that. Rae, a 21-year-old from Louisiana, “blew up” on TikTok. While maintaining her fame on the app with 84.5 million followers , Rae has also gone on to other projects, like music. She has a song called “Obsessed.” Now, she has added one more thing to her list: acting. She has been in the TV show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” due to her friendship with Kourtney Kardashian. Now, Rae has just come out with a new movie on Netflix.
“The cinematic piece, while very well done production-wise, I found to be quite unsatisfactory,” sophomore Grayson Sanders said. “The acting was significantly less than mediocre, and it was a true disgrace to the movie it was based upon.”
“He’s All That” is based on the movie “She’s All That.” (1999).
“A high school jock makes a bet that he can turn an unattractive girl into the school’s prom queen,” IMBD website said. “She’s All That is your typical high school prom king and queen story and the run in defending the star status in the upcoming election.”
“He’s All That” features an influencer (Rae) who specializes in makeovers and who gives an unpopular boy a makeover, according to Flip Synopsis. Similar to “She’s All That,” the influencer bets that she can transform her classmate into the prom king.
Junior Lauren Milligan believes this remake is a disappointment because of Rae’s acting.
“I like the plot of the movie, but I did not enjoy Addison Rae’s acting,” Milligan said. “The girls’ acting was not on point.”
Milligan believes this movie was nowhere near mature enough for the targeted audience and was not at all what she expected. Junior Greer McAllister agrees, and criticizes the movie’s quality.
“I personally think this movie was very unprofessional and rushed,” McAllister said, “as well as poorly made, casted, and produced.”
