Choir hosts traditional night of holiday tunes
Holiday event features select singers from two choirs
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The holiday spirit flows through every household as people prepare for festivities. While everyone is in preparation for the holiday season, the choirs are hard at work as well because as choir director Randy Erwin likes to say “everyone wants a choir at Christmas.”
Every year the choir department hosts an event called Candlelight Night.
Candle Light Night is a dinner theater Nov. 30-Dec. 1. Lighthouse, Camerata, Bel Canto, and Strata are the choirs that perform in this event.
This event is a night of traditional choir music with selected pieces ranging from Bel Canto’s cheerful performance of “Ding Dong Merrily on High” to Camerata’s performance of “Weihnachten.”
While the event features two choirs, it also showcases the talent of individuals involved in the music program as well through spot light solos.
“I am singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ and I think it is going to be a lot of fun,” lighthouse member Allyson Patrick, a junior, said.
This event was hosted on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, where reserved guests enjoyed a night of classic holiday music and were served a spaghetti dinner.
