Bruce Willis is back at it for the fifth time as John McClane in “A Good Day to Die Hard.” Full of action-packed scenes, a touching father and son bond, and a lack of romance are only a few elements of this new Die Hard movie.
I have seen all of the Die Hard movies, the third one being my personal favorite, and this new one did not live up to my expectations. I missed John McClane completely covered in blood and his clothing ripped to shreds at the end of the movie, which just did not happen in this one. Sure he was battered up but nothing compared to the other films.
This new Die Hard takes place in Russia as John McClane and his son set out together to save a Kamarov, a supposed ‘good guy.’ Their mission transforms from saving Kamarov to stopping complete nuclear warfare in the end.
I found the film to be a little cheesy at times but overall I liked it. The driving scene towards the beginning of the film was incredible and the scene in which Kamarov was killed was perfect because he fell off the building with the same expression on his face that the bad guy in the first Die Hard film died. The backwards descendant off of a building with arms frantically waving as his eyes meet McClane’s before he is killed was perfect.
Unlike the past four movies, this Die Hard lacked a romantic plot line, which I missed. Of course I am a girl so that could be why but still, it felt empty not having someone fall in love in this one.
Instead of a romance I guess the writers decided upon the rekindling of a lost father and son relationship, which is eventually restored in the end.
I recommend this movie to anyone who loves action films and previous Die Hard fans, giving this new addition to the Die Hard series a seven out of ten stars.
