The Nov. 17 weekend’s biggest moneymaker at the box office was the 23nd James Bond movie, “Skyfall.” One would think that after 22 movies, hundreds of girls, and five different lead actors that the 007 series would be dying out, but naysayers are entirely wrong.
The James Bond series has always been a phenomenal hit for all ages. James Bond is the man every girl wants and who every guy wants to be. He’s the essentially flawless spy who gets scores of beautiful women while protecting his nation at the same time.
“Skyfall” focuses more heavily on M, the leader of MI6, London’s agency of international espionage. After being pronounced dead and escaping to paradise, agent 007 returns and is assigned to a mission of utmost importance–protecting MI6 from the ghosts of M’s past.
The movie has excellent special effects that enhance the action of the film. The action sequences are remarkably better than preceding Bond films, which is to be expected considering technological advancements.
Despite the upgrade in effects, the basic plot scheme hasn’t changed. Bond, James Bond still gets the most beautiful girls falling all over him, wears attractive suits while performing intricate espionage, and drinks to excess all while having a lovely British accent.
“Skyfall” was the 50th anniversary of James Bond films, which premiered with Dr. No in 1962. I won’t reveal the ending here, but there is now room for expansion of the James Bond film empire.
Anyone who is in limbo about seeing “Skyfall” should definitely do it. Even if one isn’t a fan of James Bond, the film is a work of art. According to BBC, “Bond’s first real shot at an Oscar.”
