Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the past, specifically during the 18th century, during the American revolutionary period? This is virtually possible, in the newly released, “Assassins Creed 3.”
Set as a direct sequel to “Assassins Creed Brotherhood,” you continue to play as Desmond Miles, the troubled man of the 21st century.
Upon initial startup, the game begins by playing a video summarizing the game so far. Based on the myth of 2012, Desmond must stop the plot of the Templars before the end of the world.
Using the Animus, a device that allows Desmond to take on the memories of his ancestors, he is able to learn the skills and knowledge of being an Assassin as well as the locations of the Pieces of Eden that are vital to his success.
Playing as Connor, a native American from the Iroquois tribe, you travel across the 13 colonies tracking down the Templars, while contributing to the American Revolution along the way.
For example, Connor sits in during the Continental Congress, views the Boston Massacre, participates in the Boston Tea party, as well as many historical events.
Connor is equipped with the standard dual hidden blades and sword. But this time around he possesses a tomahawk, bow and arrow, and a flintlock pistol.
Another new addition is naval warfare. At first I was skeptical; however, the first time I came under attack I was hooked! Definitely give the Sea a shot.
The fighting has received a major overhaul. Compared to previous games where you could only fight four or five enemies at a time, I was surrounded by at least 15 enemies at once. The fighting is fluid with countless new killing animations that guarantee to leave an impression.
Ever heard of a double kill, try a triple kill sequence! Talk about jaw-dropping!
My only complaint is how slow the game starts. It took me around five or six hours for it to really feel like “Assassins Creed” and not an interactive movie.
The beautiful levels graphics, the new twist on the unique gameplay that we all love, the new additions, and the captivating storyline promise not to disappoint.
Depending on much you want to “finish” the game, it will at least provide 35+ hours of solid entertainment. I definitely recommend it!
