Because of British X-Factor sensation One Direction, the boy band age is reviving. The “Direction Infection” and “Bieber Fever” sparked the revival of the Jonas Brothers and the re-vamping of the television-based group, Big Time Rush.
The JoBros are a band of three brothers (Kevin, Joe, and Nick) who were popularized in 2008 and had a run of three studio albums, two Disney movies, and a short-running Disney TV series that included music, merchandise, and terrible acting.
The JoBro mania fizzled out after the release of their third album, “Lines, Vines, and Trying Times” when the boys decided to go separate ways and take up solo careers.
Years later, the Jonas Brothers have been reunited in the studio and have been working on a new album, set to be released before 2013. But the JoBros will be facing tough competition on the record market with One Direction and Big Time Rush’s new albums also being released before the end of the year.
All three groups are going big on their upcoming records. Joe Jonas told MTV, “Anything goes with this album,” on the grounds that the Jonases have experimented with all different sounds and types of music on their three preceding albums.
One Diretion’s new album differs from their debut, “Up All Night” because the music will be “edgier and rock-ish,” said Liam Payne to Perez Hilton in a recent interview.
Since the group’s beginning, Big Time Rush has been primarily focused on the television aspect of their Nickelodeon media empire, but for their third album, the boys have focused more on the music. The group wrote three of the songs to be included on the album, said Kendall of BTR to Parade Magazine.
Along with their new album, the Jonas Brothers are going to be all over the tube as well. Kevin is currently starting in the new E! reality TV show “Married to Jonas,” about his married life with Danielle Deleasa.
Joe will be hosting a new vocal talent show “The Next” on MTV; after finishing his Broadway stint with “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,” Nick will land an appearance as a guest judge on American Idol.
In their time apart, the Jonas trio has accomplished much, but their overwhelming success as a group gives promise for their return into the new age of boy bands.
