This past week television was overcome with new episodes of favorite shows and new series. “Castle,” “How I Met your Mother,” “Glee,” “New Girl,” and “Modern Family” all appeared.
“I’m really excited about all these shows. It gives me something to do on the weekdays,” said senior Savanna Sluyter.
“Castle” premiered Sept. 19. After a dramatic ending to the last season, this episode featured a new police chief and returning cast members who help the main character, Detective Kate Beckett. After getting shot and losing their police captain, this premiere answered few questions, especially the one about the shooting of Beckett’s mother.
“A lot happened, but it was just a typical premiere to me,” said senior Sean Wilson.
“How I Met your Mother” also premiered Monday night in an hour-long event. The special two episode premiere suggested a lot of drama to this season. One of the main characters Lily is pregnant, another is shown getting married in the future and of course the future mother is hinted at.
However, despite this drama the show still maintains its hilarious elements. Told in flashbacks from the year 2030, this show is all about Ted Mosby telling his kids about finding the love of his life, their mother. Due to the show’s popularity, it’s likely that the mother isn’t going to be found for another couple seasons.
On Tuesday Sept. 20th, “Glee” returned and the newest show starring Zooey Deschanel aired for the first time.
“Glee” was met with excitement for Kurt and Blaine’s relationship, seeing how far New Directions can go this year and of course, the songs. “Glee” made a shocking change with Blaine switching to New Directions from his old glee club. Rachel and Kurt tried to join a big musical college and several new characters make their appearance as well. This season is full of drama and dramatic personality changes.
“I’ve been watching it from the beginning, and I’m looking forward to the new elements of this season,” said Sluyter.
A brand new show also started on Tuesday called “New Girl.” This show stars Zooey Deschanel who lives with three male roommates. Her character, Jess, finds her boyfriend cheating on her, and she moves out and finds herself crying on the couch, watching “Dirty Dancing” and singing at her new home with three guys who don’t know how to handle her.
“I loved ‘New Girl.’ It was just funny, and I love her singing to herself. I love Zooey Deschanel and plus we have the same name,” said senior Zoie Piazza.
On Thursday Sept. 22 “Modern Family” aired two brand new episodes in an hour long event. The show featured three related families and how they deal with the trials of modern day life. This family handles their troubles in a comedic way that is entirely unique.
“’Modern Family’ is my favorite show ever, and it’s hilarious,” said Sluyter.
