Eye patches, peg legs, rum, missing teeth, and swords are a few characteristics of a pirate. Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” includes all of these plus more.
This is the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film and does not fail to impress.
Even though Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly are missing from the fourth installment, Penelope Cruz, Angelica, the daughter of the much feared Pirate Blackbeard, provides to be a great, new, fresh character.
The film opens with Captain Jack Sparrow, (Johnny Depp), reuniting with his first-mate “Gibbs” (Kevin McNally), and breaking out of the English’s hold. Captain Sparrow performed a crazy escape when he swung on the chandelier and succeeded at balancing on top of speeding horse carriages.
The plot of the story is revealed and focuses on three competing forces: pirates, the English, and Spain, searching for the fountain of youth.
Captain Jack Sparrow is tricked by his former lover, Angelica, to join Blackbeard’s ship, “Queen of Anne’s Revenge” so that he can help them discover the fountain of youth.
This film provides for a perfect amount of thrilling action including sword fights, demented mermaids, and booming guns. It also contains a dangerous romance between Sparrow and Angelica while leaving some times for hilarious “ha,ha” moments.
This new edition of Pirates is a fantastic swashbuckling adventure of the high seas, but do not waste the extra money on the 3D version. The previews, as usual, are the most exciting part of the 3D. Also, make sure to sit through the credits for a post-closing scene, which opens up possibilities for another film.
