Prom is one of the most special nights in the life of a high school senior. It is the night where everybody is able to look their finest and have a great time with their peers.
Disney’s newest movie, “Prom,” is the story of a group of teenagers and their journey leading up to the big night. The movie portrays a series of intersecting stories about couples who are each experiencing some difficulties in their relationships.
Nova, the class president, head of the prom planning committee and leader of many other positions, struggles to find a date for prom. Mei and Tyler hide secrets like where they are going to college or whose earring that really was in their car. Lucas tries to build up the courage to tell Simone that he loves her and Lloyd searches for somebody who will give him a chance.
I found this movie to be a typical Disney movie. It had a few good laughs here and there, (especially when Lloyd tries to ask several girls to prom), with some awkward scenes where I found myself cringing at the acting. There are a few predictable moments like when Nova and Jesse finally meet at prom. She is the class overachiever while he’s the troubled, dark soul. Of course they fall for each other in the end.
The film starts out a smidge slow but picks up more as the couples’ stories start to entangle with each other. Overall, if a person is going to watch a movie named “Prom,” they will definitely like it.
