They had just walked off the stage from a rockin’ performance. Sophomore Ethan Wilson’s heart was pounding a million beats per minute as he made his way back stage with a V.I.P. pass swinging back and forth on his neck. He took a deep breath and shook away his nerves as he pushed open the door to enter into Far East Movement’s dressing room.
With camera in hand, he entered the room and was greeted with a friendly, “Hey Ethan!” from DJ Virman. Right away, he felt like a friend to the group, as if he was just a long time friend they hadn’t seen in awhile.
Along with Far East Movement, Wilson has met Mike Posner, Frankmusik, (an artist famous for his work in England), Natalia Kills, Tamar Kaprelian, and Robyn. Each of the artists, excluding Mike Posner and Tamar Kaprelian, are signed to Cherry Tree Records.
Wilson had a “meet and greet” with Mike Posner, Far East Movement, Frankmusik, and Tamar Kaprelian in Tulsa, OK at the Jingleball concert in December. He met Robyn and Natalia Kills at a concert in Dallas, Texas Feb. 18.
“I was a little star struck when I met Robyn,” said Wilson, “but I was really excited.”
Wilson was allowed the chance to meet these singers through the internet where he met the owner of Cherry Tree Records, Martin Kierszenbaum. He began to listen to and to support the artists from the beginning of their careers which gave him a greater chance of meeting each of them.
“They were really down-to-earth and acted like regular people,” said Wilson. “When I met them, they treated me like I was a long time friend.”
Wilson hopes to meet Colette Carr next, an upcoming artist who is also signed to Cherry Tree.
“I want the chance to meet her because it’s been exciting watching her succeed so much from the beginning,” said Wilson.
During his meet and greet with Natalia Kills, Wilson was able to hang out with her for an hour and was allowed to witness a photo shoot and interview of hers.
“It was obvious that each of the artists truly appreciate every single fan they have,” said Wilson.
