Putting down a great book is a struggle. Putting down the last book of an amazing series is even more difficult. Incredible book series range from stories written about ancient rings to teenage romance to even 12-year-old children.
One unbelievable book series is the “Lord of the Rings Trilogy” by J.R.R Tolkien. The series consists of three parts: “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”. The books follow the amazing story of a hobbit, Frodo Baggins, who has found himself in possession of an ancient ring. Tolkien wrote the “Lord of the Rings” for more than 10 years, giving him more than enough time to work out all of the fine details. His use of remarkable creates the world that Frodo must journey through. The Trilogy can unmistakably be considered a classic.
“Twilight” is a series that has over taken the world since its release in 2005. The romantic love story of a vampire and the average girl has instantly become a best seller. Teenage girls all across the nation have found themselves falling in love with the characters, arguing who was better, Team Edward or Team Jacob. The “Twilight” Saga has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and has been translated into at least 38 different languages around the globe. The series has done so well that the Saga has actually turned three out of the four books into major motion pictures within the last three years.
Rick Riordan is the creator of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”. This book series follows 12-year-old Percy Jackson who discovers he is the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea. Besides finding out he is a demigod (half human half god), Percy finds himself public enemy No. 1 because of a prophecy. Each of the five installments of the series is action-packed and filled from cover to cover with Greek mythology. Last year the first novel of the series: “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” was made into a movie. Riordan has followed up the Percy Jackson series with a series called the “Heroes of Olympus”, which follows the next generation of demigods. Riordan has also started a series called the “Kane Chronicles” which is a story about a brother and sister who uncover secrets about their family.
One of the best book series hands down would have to be the “Harry Potter” series. The series is a classic tale of good verse evil. Readers are swept it the amazing universe J.K Rowling has created as the read Harry’s struggle to defeat Lord Voldemort. Harry Potter has become a phenomenon having its own line of candy, apparel, games and its very own theme park in Orlando, Florida. A vast majority of people have grown up reading the series as well as watching the movies. Within the last nine years Warner Brothers has made six out of the seven books into movies. In November of this year the first part of the last installment is set to release and the second part is set to be in theaters in the summer of next year.
Many things make great books series. The detail the author uses, the characters, the action, and the adventures scream from the pages of the novel. It is an incredible thing. Great book series have the power to keep readers engaged and begging for more.
